What is important to us?

At EkoElsa, we believe that well-being comes from natural choices, responsibility, and genuine craftsmanship. We want to produce items that are safe for both people and the environment — and whose origins we know inside out.

Safety

EkoElsa products are designed and manufactured by nurses. Our long experience in human health, skin, and well-being is reflected in all our product development.

We are also united by a love for nature and a belief that people live better when closer to natural ingredients and simpler choices.

All our products undergo a safety assessment by a cosmetics professional before sale. Product information can be found in the European CPNP safety portal, and the quality of our operations is guided by the GMP standard throughout the manufacturing process.

Responsible ingredients

The origin of our ingredients is extremely important to us.

For example, we cultivate calendula and carrots ourselves for our soaps. Our yard is also home to Silkie chickens, whose nutrient-rich egg yolks we use in our Silkkitipu bar shampoo.

We collaborate with domestic producers and know many of them personally.

Camelinapelto

Camelina oil arrives to us freshly pressed from Janakkala by Suomen Kasviöljyt Oy. Genuine kiln tar comes from Lentiiran Terva in Kainuu. We also use domestic oats, rapeseed oil, goat's milk, and oat milk.

Sustainable production

Saippuamuotti

The electricity used in our production is green electricity.

Bar soaps are made using the traditional cold process method, where soap is slowly created without heavy mechanical production. The process requires time, care, and craftsmanship — not unnecessary energy.

In bar soap making, oils, water, and lye naturally saponify together. The final product no longer contains lye but produces a cleansing and conditioning soap and naturally moisturizing glycerin.

Less waste

Testipala

We also want to minimize waste generated in production.

Excess pieces from soap cutting are carefully used, for example, as test pieces. We do not want to throw away anything useful.

Our packaging materials are as ecological as possible. We use domestic cardboard, and some products have fully recyclable packaging. Metal tins can be reused, for example, for transporting shampoo.

Handicraft from Heinola

All EkoElsa bar products are handmade at the Heinola Soap Factory.

We are proud to know exactly who makes the products and where they are made. Many of our tools, such as soap molds and cutters, are also custom-made by hand for our own needs.

We also employ local artisans in Heinola who make, for example, soap bags, back scrubbers, and birch plywood soap dishes.

EkoElsa products have been awarded the Key Flag Symbol by the Association for Finnish Work.

Natural well-being

We believe that skin recognizes natural ingredients.

The skin is the largest organ of the human body and is in constant contact with its environment. Therefore, what we put on our skin and what we wash with matters.

Many of our customers have found relief for sensitive skin precisely with simpler, water-free, and preservative-free products.

Water-free and preservative-free

One of the biggest advantages of bar products is that they do not require added preservatives.

Because our products are water-free, they naturally last a long time without extra additives. This makes them an excellent option for sensitive skin.

Cold-process soaps are also naturally alkaline, meaning bacteria do not thrive on their surface when the soap is stored in an airy place between uses.

Easy in everyday life

Bar products are a simple and light choice.

They are easy to use:

  • wet your skin or hair
  • rub the bar directly
  • lather
  • rinse

No leaky bottles, no unnecessary water to transport.

Different products are also easily identifiable by their shape and color — even in the shower without glasses.

More pleasant washing for animals too 🐾

Washing an animal with bar shampoo is often easier than with liquid products.

The bar can be rubbed directly into the fur and easily reaches difficult areas such as paws, armpits, and under the belly. No tipping bottles or wasted shampoo.

Effective ecological cleaning

Cleaning soap works most effectively when lathered directly onto a sponge or dish brush.

A small bar lasts a long time and significantly reduces the number of plastic bottles in the home.
