Weekly Letter 7: Sea salt and salt soaps

Welcome to the world of Elsa's Ecopaja weekly letters. Today we are already in week 7, and it's time for the fascinating world of Salt Soaps, and finally, a big reveal. (So read to the end, or read the end first :)

Do you prefer to watch the weekly letters as a video? Here's week 7's vlog post on our YouTube channel:

Entrepreneurship in Heinola

Jenni and Mari started the week by attending an entrepreneurs' info session organized by the city of Heinola. The info was held at the Kumpeli spa hotel by the Kymenvirta river, amidst beautiful autumn scenery. We heard inspiring greetings from the mayor and great marketing encouragement from, among others, Miku Leppälä, who opened Kusmiku's lunch restaurant. Thank you, Heinola entrepreneurs and city, we are greatly refreshed once again.

We got a nice segue from Hotel Kumpeli, as their top-notch spa also features a salt room, and they sell, among other things, Kumpeli salt soap at the counter.

Let's talk about salt soap

This week we're talking about our super popular salt soaps: how they're made, what kind of salt soaps we offer, and what wonderful effects they can have on your skin.

As the name suggests, salt soap is salt and soap; at Elsa's Ecopaja, the ratio is exactly 50/50. Sea salt contains wonderful minerals that, in soap, create three different effects:

Three effects of sea salt on the skin:

1. Minerals moisturize the skin. Sea salt minerals draw moisture from the deeper layers of the skin to the surface and lock it in. They work through osmosis. Anyone who has spent a week in the salty waters of the south knows that after the trip, their skin is soft and cared for (unless it's been sunburned to a crisp).

2. Minerals disinfect (mildly). Bacteria do not thrive in salt, and that is why the third effect happens automatically, namely:

3. Salt soap effectively removes body odor. Even the smelly sweat of teenagers and those going through menopause can be tamed with salt soap. This is because sweat smells when bacteria begin to grow in it. Mildly disinfecting salt soap addresses exactly this problem, which is why salt soap is the only soap for many that completely removes unpleasant underarm odor.

The soap part of salt soap

The other component of salt soap, namely soap, has an effective and super-foaming consistency. Salt soap consists mainly of coconut oil, which is a cleansing soap that lathers even in cool water. In addition, plenty of lovely coconut milk is added to the recipe, whose fats and vitamins nourish and moisturize the skin.

How to use salt soap?

You can use salt soap to wash both your hands and your entire body. As a hand soap, salt soap works well because it doesn't soften even with multiple users. Salt soap stays hard and lasts a long time in use. Usage tips for the shower: Rub salt soap directly onto your skin, armpits, and the soles of your feet. Let the lather work for a moment and rinse thoroughly. Try lathering it onto a washcloth or soap bag and enjoy the luxurious foam for longer. Store salt soap in an airy place, perhaps in a shower caddy or on a biodegradable soap dish.

Elsa's Ecopaja has as many as 4 different salt soaps.

1. Kumpeli Salt Soap

is fragrance-free, yet effective and moisturizing. Kumpeli salt soap is perfect for washing atopic and dry skin, both hands and body. Also suitable for baby's delicate skin. Salt soap can also be used to wash hair; at least occasionally, it's worth trying its effect. Hair gains a whole new kind of volume due to the salt.

2. Avanto Salt Soap

is our most popular product of all time. Avanto contains lovely, natural essential oils: a combination of Peppermint and Eucalyptus. This wonderful combo freshens up the bathroom, leaves a lovely scent on the skin, and cools the skin in hot weather or after a sauna. The beautiful pattern and blue salt crystals enhance the bathroom atmosphere along with the fresh scents.

3. Lumi Salt Soap.

A stunning white and round salt soap in a super-convenient case. The case is waterproof and rust-proof, so it can be taken along to the swimming pool or training sessions. Lumi salt soap also contains cooling essential oils: Peppermint and Eucalyptus. Have you always wanted to buy snow in a jar? Now it's possible!

4. Sisu Activated Charcoal Salt Soap.

The wonderfully foaming and deeply cleansing Sisu soap saw the light of day in spring -24. All the great properties of salt soap combined with the deeply cleansing effect of activated charcoal make this black soap a favorite product for many. Wash your face with Sisu soap and experience a whole new kind of cleanliness and hydration. Sisu effectively removes foundation from the face and leaves it wonderfully soft. Activated charcoal is especially suitable for acne-prone skin, as well as for atopic, dry skin. Salt and coconut milk keep the skin wonderfully moisturized. The effective blend of essential oils resembles licorice or salmiak, and is loved by both male and female customers. In fact, we have never received feedback that Sisu smells bad in any way. What do you think?

This week, we also have exciting news regarding our resale and internationalization aspirations:

At the beginning of summer, Hobbyhall online store found us! We received a lovely message from them, apparently, there is now very high demand for our products. We have now done a long and rewarding period of work with them, and soon our products will be available on Hobbyhall's website!

Internationalization kicks off big

And that's not all! Over the years, Hobbyhall has grown into a significant player in all Baltic countries. That's why we will also be selling our products in Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania. The work is thankfully nearing completion, and we can soon celebrate this achievement a little. We will post more updates on social media when things start to happen.
