Make your own laundry powder for sensitive skin, instructions and dosage

Elsan Ekopaja started with this homemade laundry powder.

The author of the blog is Mari Tiira, mother of Anna and Elsa, and the nurse behind all of Elsan Ekopaja's products.

My daughter Anna was born with sensitive and atopic skin. As a baby, I tried several "sensitive" labeled laundry detergents, each of which caused rashes in the areas where clothes and skin met. Eventually, I found one brand that didn't cause symptoms. For years, Anna's skin remained good, as long as her clothes weren't washed anywhere but at home. As soon as her clothes or sheets were washed elsewhere, the rash returned violently. Read the full story in this blog:

For years I was content, until the day came when that brand was no longer available anywhere. I don't know if the global pandemic or something else caused it, but in hindsight, I am grateful for the shortage, because Elsan Ekopaja would not have been born without it.

The first soap created was a cleaning soap, from which I formulated a recipe for laundry powder. I named the cleaning soap after its inspiration, Soap Anna, and later Anna Cleaning Soap.

My daughter Anna has grown into a beautiful young woman and her skin still stays good, now that her clothes are washed with our homemade laundry powder. The good thing about making it yourself is that this powder will not run out, no matter what the global situation is.

Anna occasionally works at the workshop, and I asked her to show Elsan Ekopaja's friends how we make this laundry powder for sensitive skin.

Instructions for making laundry powder:

Recipe:
1 dl grated Anna cleaning soap (approx. half a bar of soap)
1/2 dl salt
3 dl baking soda
Instructions:
1. Grate Anna cleaning soap, about 1 dl.
2. Measure all ingredients and mix together.
This recipe yields approximately 500g of laundry powder, enough for up to 33 loads of laundry!

Dosing instructions for laundry powder:

1-2 tablespoons dispensed into the detergent drawer or a washing ball. The recommended washing temperature is 40-90 degrees.

In addition to laundry powder, it is recommended to use Elsan Ekopaja's laundry vinegar instead of fabric softener when washing laundry.

Add 1-2 capfuls of laundry vinegar to the fabric softener compartment. Laundry vinegar refreshes laundry, rinses out detergent residues, and at the same time cares for the washing machine. Laundry vinegar brightens textile colors and cares for fabric fibers.

NOTE! Choose what scent you want for your finished laundry.

Do this:

If you want a fresh, citrusy scent:

Make Sensitive Skin Laundry Powder from Anna Cleaning Soap Citrus and choose Laundry Vinegar Citrus. The result is fresh laundry with a mild citrus scent.

If you want gently soothing Lavender scented laundry:

Make Sensitive Skin Laundry Powder from Anna Cleaning Soap Lavender and choose Laundry Vinegar Lavender.

If you want your laundry to smell only and exclusively clean, choose Anna Cleaning Soap Natural for your laundry powder and finish your laundry with white vinegar.

If you want to watch the manufacturing instructions on video, you can find it on Elsan Ekopaja's Youtube channel.

The instructions for this laundry powder can be found inside the Anna cleaning soap box, in a small instruction booklet.

It's that easy for sensitive skin to make their own laundry powder!
