Carrot,
scientifically called Daucus carota is a root plant that has skin care properties both internally and externally. It is one of the most important dietary sources of the provitamin, beta-carotene. It also contains B and C vitamins and minerals such as potassium, magnesium and phosphorus.
The story of carrot-oat face soap.
The author is Mari Tiira, the founder of Elsa Ecopaja

I love gardening. I collect summer vitamins and also wild natural products, such as goat's milk and nettles. In the spring, I prepare asparagus from the roots of the horsma.

I find it really grounding to use products from my own vegetable garden both internally and also in skin care. In October, it was time to lift the carrots from the vegetable garden again and I was very satisfied with this year's harvest.
Watch a video of carrot harvesting here:
I process the carrots that go into the soap by first cleaning and peeling the carrots carefully, then I cut them into pieces and boil them in plenty of water. Boiling water is collected and it works as water in soap making. The cooked carrots are mashed into a fine puree with a hand blender and added to the soap towards the end of the preparation. This is how we get the best benefits from carrots from our own vegetable garden directly into your facial soap.
The benefits of carrots in facial skin care.
- Carrot cleans the skin both internally and externally
- Carrot improves skin glow . Behind the carrot's orange color is Beta-carotene and lycopene, which reduce dark spots and take care of skin health by boosting skin cell renewal. This is how carrots restore the skin's natural glow.
- Carrot protects and cares for dry skin, strengthening the skin's own protection.
- Carrot shrinks skin pores and reduces the number of clogged pores.
- Carrot rejuvenates . Carrot increases collagen production in the skin and protects skin cells from oxidative stress.
- Carrot treats inflammation, including acne skin . The anti-inflammatory effects of carrots control the inflammation associated with acne. In addition, tartaric acid acts as a natural exfoliant and prevents acne.
- Carrot helps in the treatment of atopic skin . Atopic dermatitis or eczema is an inflammatory condition that causes a red, itchy, scaly rash on different parts of the body. Luteolin, a type of flavone and phenolic acids, and beta-carotene in carrots are powerful anti-inflammatory agents that can help treat inflammatory skin conditions.
- Carrot protects the skin from the sun's rays by increasing the melanin content of the epidermis.

How do you use carrot-oat face soap?
Elsa Ekopaja's Carrot-oat facial soap is suitable for facial skin of all ages. Carrot treats sensitive, inflamed skin, and increases brightness and elasticity. Carrot-oat face soap can be used if the skin is prone to greasiness, or if the surface is dry and thirsty for moisture.
Elsa Ekopaja's online store:
Instructions for use: Lather the facial soap with moistened hands and lather some more in your hands. Apply the creamy foam to the face in circular motions. Rinse with water or a wet cloth.
To remove waterproof eye makeup before washing, we recommend e.g. coconut oil. This way you get a completely natural facial cleansing.
Use the carrot-oat face soap morning and night to achieve glowing and resilient skin. In the evenings, after washing, I recommend applying Elsa's Ecopaja Shea Butter to the skin of the face. In the morning, the face is wonderfully soft, and the make-up is easy to apply.
